Come rendere omaggio ad una persona straordinaria... ricordarlo mi sembra il minimo che possa fare.

Con estremo cordoglio annunciamo la morte del dott. Vincenzo Sandalj avvenuta improvvisamente durante la notte. Le cause del prematuro decesso non sono ancora note e la data delle esequie sarà comunicata non appena possibile. 

Grazie alla sua grande esperienza e conoscenza del settore, Vinko Sandalj ha contribuito alla diffusione della cultura del caffè e dell’espresso italiano in tutto il mondo con autorevolezza e grande competenza. 
A Trieste, la sua città natale, Vinko ha assunto le redini della ditta paterna nel 1979, la Sandalj Trading Company spa, un'azienda che annovera oggi un migliaio di clienti in oltre cinquanta Paesi. Tra i molti incarichi di rilievo internazionale, è stato Trade Advisor della Delegazione italiana all’International Coffee Organization of London e Rappresentante europeo all’International Relations Committee della Specialty Coffee Association of America; Consulente del WTC delle Nazioni Unite a Ginevra per il progetto “Sviluppo del potenziale del caffè gourmet” nei Paesi esportatori e importatori; socio fondatore, consigliere di amministrazione e, infine, Presidente della Speciality Coffee Association of Europe nel biennio 2003-2004; anche autore del libro “Il Caffè – Territori e Diversità” pubblicato in sette lingue nel corso di un decennio, Vinko Sandalj ha ricoperto i ruoli di Presidente dell’Associazione Caffè Trieste, Membro del Consiglio Direttivo della Association for the Cup of Excellence (USA) e, infine, Console Onorario della Repubblica di Indonesia. 
Il Consiglio di Amministrazione, i dipendenti e tutti i collaboratori si impegnano a sviluppare e portare a compimento le idee e i progetti da lui concepiti.
Il mondo del caffè si stringe attorno alla sua famiglia e ai suoi amici.

It is with great sorrow that we hereby announce the sudden death of Vincenzo Sandalj last night. The exact cause of death is not yet known and the date of the funeral shall be communicated in due course.

Thanks to his long experience and sound knowledge of the coffee sector, Vinko Sandalj generously and actively contributed to the promotion of the Italian espresso coffee culture at a worldwide level.

Born in Trieste, Vinko Sandalj took control of the company from his late father in 1979 thus creating the Sandalj Trading Company SpA which now has a thousand clients in over 50 different countries. Some of the most salient positions held by Vinko Sandalj were: Trade Advisor at the International Coffee Organization of London and European representative of the International Relations Committee for the Specialty Coffee Association of America; he participated in the United Nations and World Trade Organization project for the Development of Gourmet Coffee potential; he was a founding member, director and President of the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe in 2003 and 2004; author of the book “Coffee - A Celebration of Diversity” translated in seven different languages, he was also member of the Board in the Cup of Excellence, President of the Associazione Caffè Trieste and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia.

The Board of Directors and the entire Sandalj team will ensure that Vinko Sandalj’s ideas and philosophy will be accomplished and carried out in full. 

The coffee world shares the grief of his family and friends.
